4 Star Long Weekend in Gdansk

This long weekend break offers two rounds of golf in a more unusual destination, plus a look at the Baltic coastal city of Gdansk. There is time to see the major architectural and historical sites on a half day tour, and time also to explore the streets of the Old Town on your own. Gdansk is a city that has changed much in recent years; once thought of as a drab city, part of a communist state, it is now a vibrant city, with an energetic nightlife, but which retains many sights redolent of its turbulent history – a classic combination of yesteryear and today.

Day by Day itinerary

Day 1.

Arrive Gdansk. Our weekend in Gdansk starts as we check in at our hotel. Once settled in, the rest of the first day and evening is then left free for you to explore. If you are arriving on an early flight, then you may want to fit in an additional warm-up round; if you advise us in advance we will be happy to book this for you. Otherwise there is time to start exploring Gdansk. Said by some to be amongst the finest cities of Northern Europe, the city was for a long time the wealthiest in Poland. The Second World War – which is said to have started here – brought wholesale destruction, but the city has been lovingly restored and is today a reminder of how history first shaped it. Most of the areas of interest are in the city centre, which is easily explored on foot; head for Dlugi Targ, the square with colourful buildings on all sides, and just wander from there. Close by are a myriad of cafes, bars and good restaurants. After dinner the Old Town comes alive until the early hours of the morning.

Day 2.

In Gdansk. Morning round of golf. Afternoon sightseeing tour. After breakfast our car collects you for the drive to the golf course at the Gdansk Golf and Country Club. Situated in Postolowo, this course stands a chance, in the opinion of one Dutch course designer, of being amongst the top 50 courses in Europe. After our round there is time for lunch before you join our guide for a private walking tour of the city. You will visit the Monument to Solidarity, part of the city’s story of the shipyard worker who rose to become the Polish President; you walk on through the cobbled streets of the Old Town, ending up on the quay by the Moltawa River. In the evening, Gdansk comes alive, with many cafes, bars and restaurants around the old part of town staying open late into the night.

Day 3.

In Gdansk. Morning round of golf. Afternoon at leisure for personal exploration or optional excursions After breakfast our car takes you back to the golf course for a second round of golf. After returning to the clubhouse, time to get yourself some lunch before spending the afternoon as you wish. Wandering further amongst the old streets of the city; taking a cruise on an old-style sailing ship to the river mouth; or taking an excursion to Gdansk’s sister cities of Gdynia and Sopot and watching the world go by; the choice is yours.

Day 4.

Tour ends. After breakfast our tour ends, and it’s time to head for the airport and our flight home. But if you have arranged a late flight, then there is time for a last round of golf, or a final wander through the Old Town and perhaps a little last-minute shopping, before it’s time to go home.
